Even if you make sure the Phidget is attached before ''beginning'' a write, unplugging the Phidget in the ''middle'' of a write will either (a) throw an exception silently, such as in C, and you will not know the write failed, or (b) throw an exception explicitly, such as in Java, .NET, Python, AS3 and your program will abruptly terminate.
