From Phidgets Support
RFID (Read/Write)
When you double click on an RFID Read/Write object, a window like the one pictured will open.
- At the top of the window, information about your device and the properties of this particular channel will be listed.
- On the left, data for the tag currently being read is displayed. Bring a compatible tag within 5cm of the surface of the Phidget to see the tag's string and protocol. A blank tag will display neither until is has been written to. Below this information are toggle boxes for the antenna and keyboard output. Toggling the antenna will make the board unable to read or write, but will decrease power consumption. Enabling keyboard output will cause your computer to write a string of text whenever a tag is discovered. Park your cursor in an empty text file and try it out!
- On the right, you can enter data to write to a writeable tag. Select the desired protocol from the drop-down, write the tag string and click "write". Note that the write will not occur unless your tag string follows the rules of the chosen protocol. For more information, see the technical details section. If the "lock" option was enabled, the tag will be permanently written to; it will be impossible to overwrite the tag string once locked, so only use it if you're sure.
