Welcome to Phidgets Education

At Phidgets, we believe that you don't have to be an electrical engineer in order to create sophisticated projects using motors, sensors and other electronics - you simply need to know how to code!

The best way to learn about Phidgets is to go through the Getting Started Kit. Keep reading for more information.

Getting Started Kit

The Getting Started Kit will get you up and running with Phidgets by guiding you through the basics. You will learn about the VINT Hub, programming with Phidgets, LEDs, push buttons and more!

Choosing Your Project

After completing the Getting Started Kit, you can continue working with Phidgets by selecting one of the following projects:

  • Phidgets and Unity
  • Robot Kit
  • Self-Checkout Kit

Continue reading to learn more about each project.

Robot Kit

The Robot Kit will introduce you to motor controllers, distance sensors, thumbsticks and more.

Before starting with this kit, navigate to the Getting to Know Your Phidgets course and complete the following guides:

  • DCC1001 - 2A DC Motor Phidget
  • DST1200 - Sonar Phidget
  • HIN1100 - Thumbstick Phidget.

After completing the guides above, move on to the Robot Kit

Phidgets and Unity

Unity is a cross-platform game development engine used to create 2D and 3D games and simulations. In this project, you'll reuse the push buttons from the Getting Started Kit and incorporate them into a Unity game. Follow the link to get started: Phidgets and Unity

Self-Checkout Kit (Prototype)

You'll start by creating your own weight scale out of a single load cell and a DAQ1500 - Wheatstone Bridge Phidget. After that, you'll learn about barcode scanners and how they work. At the end of the project you'll put everything together and create your own self-checkout kiosk.
