Notice: This page contains information for the legacy Phidget21 Library. Phidget21 is out of support. Bugfixes may be considered on a case by case basis. Phidget21 does not support VINT Phidgets, or new USB Phidgets released after 2020. We maintain a selection of legacy devices for sale that are supported in Phidget21. We recommend that new projects be developed against the Phidget22 Library.

Halloween Blood-Squirting Skull
"I wanted to build a small device that would terrify small children as they approached my door for Halloween. I suppose this makes me a bad person, but it's still a lot of fun. The concept here is pretty simple. We will be using motion detection from a web cam or network-enabled/IP camera to trigger a small fountain pump fitted into a bucket of water to spray anyone that approaches your front door. And, to make it a bit more creepy, we will fit the spray mechanism into a plastic skull."
Hobby Built Robot
Andrew Kirillov submits his robot car hobby project using Phidgets sensors with a Qwerk Board.
Laser Spirograph
A sure sign of a 1970s childhood is a fond memory of doodling with the Kenner Spirograph toy...
Mechanical Dry Erase Board
Rob Douglas from Vanderbilt University gives us a step by step walkthrough of his mechanical dry-erase whiteboard project, much akin to a larger scale, computer driven, Etch-a-Sketch. The site contains the step-by-step process of construction, a list of all components used as well as suggestions for improvements, and the source code (written in C#). Check out his project for a good usage example for the Phidget High Current Motor Controller, InterfaceKit and Analog Joystick sensor, and Servo Controller.
monoBOTICS Framework Project
Mauricio Henriquez submits the monoBOTICS project. From their site: "The monoBOTICS project aims to become to an OpenSource Framework, to facilitate the tasks of design, simulation and implementation of solutions for areas of Robotics and Automation, both for people with basic knowledge of programming, as for more advanced developers."
Pan-tilt module for Stereo Vision Applications
Andrew Kirillov sends us an interesting article describing how to build a pan-tilt module intended for some hobby stereo vision applications.

RFID Pass
This looks like a great use of PhidgetRFID. "With RFID Pass you can use your RFID Tag to save and recall encrypted passwords for websites or any other windows application. It also features a Screen Lock which prevents unauthorised use of your computer while you are away from your desk and is deactivated simply by swiping your tag over the RFID reader when you get back."
Software-steered RC Car with AI
This page describes an undergraduate student project. The aim of the project was to write some image-processing software to steer a radio-controlled car towards a goal. The software sees the car through an image captured from a webcam, and drives it via a PhidgetInterfaceKit 8/8/8 attached to the RC controller that came with the car.
Tetris Weightlifting
Tetris Weightlifting is a prototype entertainment fitness system that allows players to lift weights as the means of control for a modified version of Tetris. User testing with the device suggests great potential for combining casual games with exercise activity.
