I would like to have a second static IP on my SBC 4. When I modify /etc/network/interfaces it works fine until the SBC is restarted, then my changes are lost. Where do I make the change so it is permanent?
Just need one static ....
Got to you router and change your dynamic range to 50 to 255
instead of default 1 to 255
DHCP Beginning Address: . 50
DHCP Ending Address: . . .255
Now the first 50 addresses are static
Then go to network set up for phidget sbc in web interface
set up manual static address, dont use 1 thats the router
for example 10.0..0.1 router
10.0.0.2 your phidget sbc
here is my example:
for my phidget sbc3
Adapter eth0 (UP)
Type wired
Mode static
IP Address 10.0.0.8
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 10.0.0.1
MAC Address 00:1b:0b:10:28:a9
DNS Server(s) 216.146.35.35
216.145.36.36
DNS server can be found on your computer under network settings
Remember only one static address for one device or you will have a networking problem. you now have 49 choices because router is 1
