SBC Port going idle after n time

We have a Quadrature Encoder connected to Port 0 of an SBC and we're seeing that we seem to lose connection to the encoder after some time. If we disable power to the port, and then re-enable power it seems to resolve the issue and we can get values of the encoder again.

Is there a set time that a device will go into an idle state? And how can we prevent a device or port from going idle?

No the device should not ever enter an idle state, it should stay active as long as you have it opened.

1. What behaviour do you see when it loses connection? Is there a detach event?

2. Are you doing anything specific with the encoder when it loses connection or is it happening randomly?
