Genral purpose relay and VINT hub

When using a general-purpose relay with the digital output of an interfaceKit, you need to power the relay from a 5vdc source on the ifKit. Typically (and per the instructions for the 3051 dual-relay Phidget) the relay is powered from an analog input and triggered from a digital output.
Now, when using a VINT hub in digital output mode all three relay inputs are available on a single VINT port: ⏚, +, and Trigger. Of course, this doesn't help much with the 3051 because the connector on the 3051 is not wired to match the VINT hub. Bummer.
But, there are very simple, inexpensive relays that do match up perfectly. This allows the relay to be directly connected to the hub using a standard sensor cable.
My question... Is there any reason to not use a relay in this way?
