DC MotorPositionControl crashes on high current

Post by sgeiger »

I'm trying to create an interactive dial (rotating knob with a motor).
The system is built using a 12V motor with built-in encoder connected to a DCC1000.
The positionController works perfectly, but when I manually rotate the knob the application crashes (both mine and the example from the Phidgets control panel). I didn't find a specific moment for the crash - it may happen in a second or in 10 seconds.
I also tried to "artificially" limiting the current to the motor by disengaging it when the current raises above 0.5A, but it still crashes (the built-in current sensor minimum data interval is 100ms, so it may miss the peak)
Also - I checked the motor + DCC1000 board as a DC Motor Controller channel and it also crashed, but only after a relatively long stall at max current (2A).
I only get a general error, and the log only says deviceDetach() was called from the DCC1000.
